Kelly DeRidder in Victoria Park

Victoria Park brings people in Kitchener Centre together, and it shows up often in the work of Kelly DeRidder, the Member of Parliament for Kitchener Centre. This page gathers her posts, videos and speeches connected to the park and the neighbourhood around it.

In the park, Kelly has joined community celebrations. In July 2025, she attended the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Festival and shared her thanks for the pride and connection she felt there. She also visited the Victoria Park Gallery, hosted by the Victoria Park Historical Committee, which shares Kitchener's history through art, photos and storytelling. In June 2026, she invited neighbours to Victoria Park to pick up Canada Day signs ahead of the celebrations.

Kelly also speaks about challenges that people in the community face. She has shared that she was once homeless in Victoria Park and trapped in addiction, and that her private member's bill, C-240, is about helping others find a way out. In August 2026, she called for tougher penalties for people who profit from drug trafficking and for a justice system that puts victims, families and communities first.

Enough is enough. Drug traffickers are fueling the addiction crisis and putting lives at risk in Kitchener and across Canada. We need tougher penalties for those who profit from trafficking and a justice system that puts victims, families and our communities first.

There was a time I was homeless in Victoria Park and trapped in addiction, wondering if my life would ever look different. I know what it feels like to believe there’s no way out, and my PMB, C-240 is about helping others find one.

toria Park. Every performance, every food stall, every conversation was a beautiful reminder of how powerful it is to celebrate the cultures and communities that shape who we are. I felt surrounded by belonging, inspired by cultural pride, and grateful for how openly and joyfully people shared their stories. What moved me most was the spirit of engagement—we may not always agree, but we show up, we listen, and we learn from one another. These are the voices I welcome. These are the conversations that build bridges. Huge thank you to the organizers, artists, volunteers, and community members who made this festival possible. You created a space where everyone could feel seen, heard, and celebrated—and that means the world. 💛 #KWMF2025 #Gratitude #CulturalPride #BelongingMatters #CommunityJoy #kitchenercentre
