Affordability is a key pillar for me. Families in #kitchenercentre should not have to pay the price for Liberal irresponsible spending.

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister introduced his first spending bill. The Liberals increased spending by 8 per cent after promising to keep it below 2. Spending on consultants alone increased by more than 36 per cent to an unprecedented $26.1 billion. Now, every Canadian household has to pay $1,400 per year in taxes just to pay for well-connected Liberal insiders. Liberal spending drives inflation. When will they spend responsibly to ensure Canadians and residents of Kitchener Centre never have to decide between filling the refrigerator or putting... The Honourable President of the Treasury Board. Mr. Speaker, this new government is making sure that spending is being carefully managed and focused on our most pressing priorities. In 2023 and 24, departments started reducing spending on professional and travel services by $500 million. We will continue to review our spending to make sure that we are being efficient, effective and focused.

The rising cost of living has tightened its grip on families, young professionals, and seniors alike. I heard the stories at the doors—parents stretching every dollar, young people questioning whether they can ever afford a home, and local businesses trying to stay afloat amidst … Read more

increasing expenses. Affordability isn’t just a word; it is the difference between stability and struggle, between hope and hardship. During the campaign, I had the opportunity to tour the Waterloo Region Food Bank. While I was deeply impressed by their efficiency and dedication, I found myself grappling with an unsettling reality—the sheer scale at which such an operation is needed in our community. Between 2023 and 2024, the number of new households accessing a food hamper program for the first time skyrocketed by 210%. In that same period, 29,786 hampers were distributed to families in need—an increase of 109%. These staggering numbers are a direct consequence of the rising cost of living, forcing more and more people to turn to essential support services just to put food on the table. This isn’t just an economic issue; it’s a human one. It is a call to action—one that demands urgent and meaningful solutions to ensure that no family in Kitchener Centre or beyond has to struggle for their basic needs. We must forge policies that ease this pressure, ensuring less taxation, affordable housing, and stability for our communities and across Canada.

House of Commons: Statements by Members — Southern Ontario Cricket Association

Mr. Speaker, the other weekend, I had the honour of kicking off the cricket season with SOCA, the Southern Ontario Cricket Association, founded in 1883. Under the leadership of Parveen, Dr. Hariharan, president Giridhar and vice-president Karthik, SOCA has grown into a community … Read more

of 79 teams. Today, SOCA runs leagues for women, children and seniors, creating a truly inclusive cricket community. In the Waterloo region, SOCA serves 8,000 members, who find friendship, purpose and pride. Through sport, they are growing leaders, role models and stronger communities. Parveen Sharma has dedicated over 31 years to growing this organization. Parveen was the backbone of local cricket programs long before cricket had the visibility it enjoys today. Mayor Berry has been a tremendous support over the years. His advocacy at the municipal level has played a key role in helping the league thrive in the Waterloo region. This is exactly the kind of community building I am very proud to support. I wish SOCA a very successful season.

House of Commons: Government Orders — Business of Supply — Opposition Motion—Canada Carbon Rebate and Payment to Quebec

Madam Speaker, the member opposite spoke at length about tax cuts. While we support all tax cuts, in today's economy, it is just not enough. The average family in Kitchener is spending $800 more a year just to put food on the table. That completely cancels any benefit from this t… Read more
