Back in August, I had a great visit with Cory Bluhm, Executive Director of Economic Development at the City of Kitchener, and Shannon Weber, Chief of Staff to the Mayor and Council, for a tour of the SDG Idea Factory.
For those who don’t know, the SDG Idea Factory brings together multiple small businesses and incubator programs into one collaborative ecosystem — supporting social and environmental innovators and equity-deserving entrepreneurs.
It’s an incredible space built on the belief that collaboration drives innovation. As their website explains, a factory isn’t just a place that produces goods — it’s a place where people come together to build better solutions, faster.
The SDG Idea Factory is inspired by the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals — a global call to action to promote peace, prosperity, and sustainability for all.

lief in education, and her quiet leadership are nothing short of inspiring. I’m proud that Canada is now part of her journey, and that she is here, pursuing her dreams with the same resilience that carried her through so much. Her story reminds us why we must continue to fight for opportunity, dignity, and hope—for every child, everywhere. Rahima Khushi, YOU GO GIRL!!! Cannot wait to watch what you accomplish in life.
