House of Commons: Routine Proceedings — Petitions — Local Radio

House of Commons · October 22, 2026

Mr. Speaker, today I am presenting a petition on behalf of Kitchener Centre residents concerned about the Rogers radio closures and their impact on our community. During the Shaw acquisition campaign, assurances were made that local radio would not be impacted. Petitioners want to know what the response is to these closures, and whether Rogers will be held accountable for breaking those assurances. These closures threaten local jobs, access to local news and voices of our community. Kitchener residents deserve answers, and this petition is an important step towards holding Rogers accountable.

incredible act of kindness and generosity. The fact that our food bank still needs more support, despite a donation of that size, shows just how great the need has become. It is clear that the Liberal government is failing to acknowledge the affordability crisis or ensure stability within our market. Until these things change, it is only going to get worse. Canadians need to be able to put warm food on the table without relying on a food bank. The Liberal government must react to the needs of everyday Canadians.
