I will tell this House exactly what Conservatives stand for: End the failed experiment of tax-payer funded “safe supply” that keeps people trapped in addiction and focus on abstinence based rehabilitation; take the billions we are spending to manage misery and invest them instead in 50,000 real treatment beds, medical detox, and recovery housing; and sue the drug companies that flooded our country with poison to help pay for it. It’s time to bring our loved ones home, drug free. #rehabilitation #addictionrecovery #hope

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. First and foremost, I do appreciate the member's passion on the issue itself, but what I would ask her to do is to reflect in terms of what it is that the Conservative Party as a political entity actually says and does inside the House. This is a government that has worked with the different jurisdictions, whether it's on the crime file, whether it's in the issue of overdoses, and we continue to do that. We have provided strong leadership through financial support, through working and supporting provincial and municipal initiatives. We have actually received, on our legislation dealing with crime, virtual universal support. The only people that seem to oppose the initiatives that municipalities, provinces, and the federal government are doing in a cooperative... Honorable member for Kitchener Centre. As a proud Conservative standing in this House, I will reflect on what we will do about this drug crisis. A billion dollars has been already spent by this government only to perpetuate the problem. As a Conservative, I stand here today to say we will focus on recovery, we will focus on rehabilitation, and we will take the lead, and we will do what's right for Canadians in this country.

Our community is hurting. First responders are overwhelmed. Youth overdoses are rising. Kitchener families are fed up. This new federal budget only mentions mental health and addictions once and it’s to recognize that much needed funding is ending. The Conservative plan offers … Read more
